He analyzed, “AI is fundamentally reshaping the global industrial structure, bringing tremendous volatility along with tremendous opportunities,” and “AI is putting significant pressure on two other sectors: energy and finance.”
Chairman Chey stated, “The demand for infrastructure to power AI exceeds imagination,” and “Next-generation energy solutions, active investment from the private sector, and close cooperation among Korea, the U.S., and Japan are necessary.”
He also emphasized from a financial perspective that “Only countries and companies with the capital strength to afford the massive infrastructure costs will be able to lead in the competition.”
Chairman Chey said, “We have now moved beyond the stage of identifying challenges to a point where we must prepare practical solutions,” and “Close cooperation among Korea, the U.S., and Japan is an essential condition for ushering in the new AI era.”
Meanwhile, Chairman Chey Tae-won projected at the TPD event on the 20th that SK hynix’s operating profit this year could exceed $100 billion (approximately 144.85 trillion won).
